Childhood trauma recovery
As an integrative trauma therapist, I work holistically. Meaning that my approach encompasses mind,
body, and emotions. And is focused on healing the complex trauma/C-PTSD associated with a difficult childhood.
Recovery involves building safety in the present, processing the past, and growing your sense of self. The tools and techniques we can use to work together on your recovery include:
Cognitive work -
We build your awareness - making links between past and present, understanding trauma, and challenging outdated beliefs.
Inner child/parts work -
Wounded parts get triggered in the present keeping us stuck. Here we process how the child within you adapted to survive childhood. Learn more:
Why you feel conflicted - the power of parts work in healing childhood trauma
Somatic therapy/nervous system regulation -
Emotional regulation through working with physical experience & sensations. Focus on regulating the nervous system to restore balance and reduce fear of emotions.
Some of the impacts and consequences of childhood trauma that I work with are described below.

Post-traumatic stress/PTSD
Post-traumatic stress isn't really a disorder because there's nothing wrong with you if you struggle with it. It's a normal response to traumatic experiences such as war, terrorism, natural disaster, or assault.
Complex trauma/C-PTSD
Post-traumatic stress becomes more complex when experienced at the hands of toxic parenting as a child (e.g. sexual abuse or psychological and emotional neglect). Having worked with survivors of childhood trauma, I can promise a safe and validating experience.
